Each year the LHS Construction Academy conducts a 2″x4″x8′ challenge with the junior class. According to teacher, Andy Phillips, each student is given a standard two by four and can make anything they want out of this single board.
“Students may use up to 25% other materials to create their project. This was our 8th annual 2″x4″x8′ challenge and it is always exciting to see the level of creativity and craftsmanship when it comes to this project,” he said.
This year the challenge was completed on Monday, March 11th. Students voted on the winners for five different categories.
Teachers Choice Award: Lily Scott for the deer head and Draylen Church for the guitar.
People’s Choice Award: Emily Davis for the flag.
Most Practical Award: Trevor McCoy for the nightstand table.
Most Technical Award: Dylan Householder for the Rube Goldberg machine.
Most Artistic: Elijah Brandenburger- for the wooden axe and shield.
