The 2025-2026 Lancaster High School wrestling team closed out their season recently.  Three wrestlers qualified for district; Mason Terry, Aiden Thress, and Myles Shriver. The Gales ended the dual season 5-2. Head coach Tom Good, new this year, said they experienced some difficulties but that he is happy with the team’s overall performance.

“This season has been challenging and a lot of fun for me. We have a pretty talented group of upperclassmen, and it has been fun guiding them through their final season with the Gales. As far as the outcome, I think we wrestled hard and gave our best effort. We showed a lot of heart and talent in our underclassmen and I am excited for the future,” said Good.

Coach Good said one of the most important successes that he and the team experienced was developing a strong team dynamic.

“The biggest highlight for me is the bonds built and the family we have become along the way, “ he said.

Now that this season is over, Good said that it was time to look to the future and he has his sights set on very specific wins.

“OCC League Champions, win our Sectional and District as a team, place four or more individuals at the State Tournament,“ he projected.

Assistant Varsity coach Logan Agin is also new to the team this year. Agin, once a standout wrestler with LHS a few years ago, summarized the highlights of his first wrestling season as a coach.

It has been a pleasure to work alongside the kids and watch them grow.  Our outcomes exceeded my expectations in every tournament we participated in,” he said.

LHS sophomore and wrestler Connor Bevinger said he has seen positive progress over the course of the team’s season.

“I’d say it was pretty good with our new coach. He’s doing well in teaching us.  Practices have been tough, but they’re helpful,” he said.

Bevinger said being a Gale’s wrestler is rewarding and he appreciates the bonds he is creating.

“The practices being with the teammates, it’s always good to be around them and just have fun together, making memories,” he said.

LHS sophomore Leland Meadows remarked on the transition from the team’s former coach and Coach Good.

“We had a good season just trying to battle it out through the OCC. [Good] coming in, taking Bentley’s spot, he was a great mentor throughout the season. He helped a lot of us become better and thrive to be better,” he said.

Historically, wrestling has been known as a brutal and demanding sport.  Coach Agin explained.

“Wrestling is a hard sport and needs constant attention from the time as a youth wrestler all the way to your senior year. This is a requirement to build a great team that can perform at the highest level,” he said.

Coach Good said that he wants the wrestlers to reach their potential as a team as well as individually.

“As a coach it’s my job to set lofty goals not only for myself but for my athletes. There are fourteen weight classes, my ultimate goal would be to have fourteen state champions,” said Good.
